Western Ballet Youth Graded Program

Designed to take young dancers from their first dance experiences to performances of a pre-professional caliber. Students progress according to individual development; advancement is based on an evaluation by the Artistic Director and other instructors. It is not unusual for a student to remain in a level for more than one year.

The Introduction to Ballet through Ballet B levels aim to stimulate and maintain an interest in the art of classical ballet and make it possible for students to study in a professional environment.

Levels 1 to 8 offer an intensive training program designed to channel talents of the serious student along a professional route from the studio to the stage.

Students in the graded program are placed in the level most appropriate for their age.  Each division is designed to meet the instructional needs of students according to their level of development.  This ensures that the teaching of technique and the building of stamina and discipline parallels the physical and emotional readiness of the child.

When students progress to the upper levels, there is an increase in commitment from both the student and faculty. Performing opportunities increase. Students receive the attention and training required of the pre-professional level. The upper levels of the program integrate classical Ballet, Modern dance, Pilates, music and performing opportunities contributing to the development of a well-rounded artist.
